When I was young, I read in so many books and saw in many pictures that angels and fairies carried wands which glow and are multi-coloured.
When I saw these two ladies on the footpath talking animatedly and closeby in their baskets they had illuminated sticks for selling which looked like magic wands to me. I smiled to myself for being a kid at this age. Long back, I had read a book in Hindi titled "Footpath ke Farishte" written by Krishan Chander.
I felt that these ladies were indeed the Angels of footpath, who had the glowing wands (perhaps Magical) ready to cast Magic on anyone who was sad or oppressed.
